Lynn (our Annie) received this from Angela Baker (the original Miss February)
Calendar Girls was inspired by Angela's husband John, who died of leukaemia in 1998.
First the film based on their story and then the stage play followed.
By 2013 their inspirational effort has raised £4 million towards leukaemia research.
The Blanket used in the photo shoot was knitted in squares by some of the cast and their families.
The squares were then assembled by Sue Sheriff to form the final blanket.
It was passed to Hedge End WI, who in turn sent it to Zambia.
They have received a letter from Sue van Niekerk saying:
"a parcel contained the beautiful large blanket used for “ Calendar Girls” production – how very kind of them -
such pretty colours and such excellent craft. Please pass on our grateful thanks to those responsible for the gift"
A set of photos were commissioned which were used for publicity in the porch of the Reading Rooms during production week. They featured the ladies of the cast, and some from backstage, wearing black outfits and a sunflower brooch. The photos were taken by Steve Burkett (Video4aDay). Other photos were also taken by Steve, at the Dress Rehearsals.
